I’ve been wanting to do a partial form of Edward’s werelion form for quite a while now, just haven’t had the time to do it until now (mainly work and computer issues, freakin’ Windows updates).
So why a partial form? Why not go full-on werelion or feral lion? I mean, yeah, that’s the point of Edward wanting to be a lion. But casting a curse that powerful takes a lot of energy from a rookie spellcaster who only knows simple polymorph spells. Knowing Kiyoshi’s abilities, and his struggle with higher-level spells, Edward suggests that his friend apply a partial curse instead. That way, Kiyoshi won’t get too exhausted from spending so much energy, and can learn how the spell works over time. It’s like a workout regimen: start out light before adding on heavier weights.
