RIP Bob Uecker
by rabbi-tom
Thats MR Asshole to you!
Anybody who followed baseball, knows of Bob Uecker, Broadcaster for the Milwaukee Brewers for 54 seasons. Anybody who followed baseball, Especially the Milwaukee Brewers knew Bob's voice in the broadcast booth. Bob started out as a catcher for the Braves in 1954, and played with St Louis Cardinals, Philadelphia Phillies as well. Plus a Baseball Hall of Famer in 2003.
Bob's radio broadcasting started as a play by play announcer in 1971, was dubbed "Mr Baseball" by Johnny Carson, appearing on the Tonight Show over 100 times. He also starred in Major League and the sequels. Even did numerous commercials and starred in Mr Belvadere as George Owens.
But his catch phrase when Milwaukee scored a home run "Get Up! Get Up! Get Outta Here! GONE!"
I got to visit his 'Office' at Brewers Stadium last year, he wasn't there, but it was filled with numerous photos, autographs and artwork. Even sat in his chair behind the microphone.
But anybody who lived in Wisconsin knew of Bob's fame, his humor, willing to mock even himself on the air.
Bob was one of a kind.

Lets not forget he also was the game broadcaster for the Cleveland Indians in the Major League Film trilogy, but yeah Bob's voice is iconic in its own right, as in most animated cartoons or such involving baseball his voice was the model they based the character on.

"I must be in the front rowww!"- Bob Uecker's catch phrase in the Miller Lite beer commercials...he ends up in the high up nosebleed seats in the stadium.
