Out in the middle of somewhere, a young girl is face down on the grass. She mumbled and groaned as she heard some birds chirping.
“Ugh. Where am I?” She said as she slowly picked herself up. The young 9-year old named Nancy looked around and saw that she was in the middle of the road with forest around her. “Dad? Mom!?” She looked around for any sign of her parents, however she was all on her own.
Feeling very sad and scared, she quickly dusted her white dress off before heading down the road. While walking, she used that time to think for herself.
‘Where am I exactly? I was just out of the park playing queen when a sudden bright light came out and it spread out to town. I tried to cover my eyes and before I knew it, I’m suddenly on the ground somewhere. I hope mom and dad are okay, I don’t know where I am nor do I know what this place is.’
As she continued walking down the path, she saw something on the road. Thinking it might be someone, she quickly ran towards it, but stopped when she saw exactly what the thing is.
“A jellybean?” On the ground is a shiny, blue jellybean on the ground. Nancy picked the jellybean off the ground out of curiosity and looked around it. The jellybean was big enough for both of her hands and there wasn’t any dirt on it. Although her parents told her not to eat food off the ground, she thought that it looked fine to eat, so she took a bite out of it and chewed before her eyes widened.
‘It’s so sweet and delicious!’ She quickly bite onto the jellybean and she finished it off in a matter of seconds. Even though it was only one, she felt like her stomach was being filled with good food.
“Ahhh. That was so good. Are there any more?” She looked around before she noticed a trail of them continuing down the road where the bridge is there. Upon closer inspection, she noticed that everything is made out of candy everywhere she see.
“Am I in a dream? This is the best dream ever! I hope this lasts forever.” She continued down the road while eating whatever jellybean is on the way one by one. She eventually saw something different on the ground and she picked it up.
“A gingerbread? This looks cute.” She picked up a cookie off the ground. The cookie itself is a gingerbread shaped like something that resembled some sort of dog or creature Nancy doesn’t know. It’s beast like yet also seemed to be standing on its legs and has short arms on it. Its hair looked like a mane she sees on some of the dogs she ed.
“Well, can’t let this go to waste.” Nancy chomped onto the cookie, leaving any crumbs before she finished the cookie as fast as the jellybeans. She rubbed her filled belly from the chocolate taste. “Mmmmmmm. Delicious. I’m stuffed.”
Nancy continued down the road searching for her parents, after a while her stomach growled not from hunger, but the aching pain in her stomach. She clutched her belly trying to ease the pain.
“Ooof. My stomach. I think I’ve eaten too many sweets.
While holding onto her belly, she slowly walked down the road, hopefully to find a town nearby. The pain in her stomach started to get worse and worse until she fell down on her front, the pain started to spread throughout her body.
“Owwww. Okay, this dream is starting to hurt now. I’d like to wake up now.” Nothing answered her plea as she started to cry, the pain becoming too much for the young girl.
“Mom! Dad! Anyone! Please help me!” She screamed as she rocked back and forth, unaware that her body is starting to change on the inside and out.
Everything inside of her body started to disappear and melt into chocolate, yet despite this, she’s still alive. Her brunette hair become a chocolate hair, in fact her hair became actual chocolate icing and grew down her back into a luscious mane. Her ears turned into strawberry horns as her head shifted into a more triangular shape resembling a cake slice with her teeth becoming razor sharp. Nancy spread her limbs out, all of her fingers receded into her hand, which became a stumpy cupcake hands.
She shut her eyes as she cried even more, not knowing her eyes soon became strawberry material with a white pupil. As the transformation continues, her body started to grew bigger and bigger, tearing her dress while her whole body changed into a big cupcake with chocolate frosting connecting to her head. From behind her, a small chocolate tail popped out and wagged rapidly. For the finishing touch, her shoes exploded along with her socks, her feet soon becoming stumpy leg cupcakes. The characteristic she retained is her long eyelashes.
Once the transformation finished, Nancy remain there to clear her tears as the pain is going away. After she felt better, she slowly sit herself up, noticing how everything seems a little smaller now.
“Owie. My stomach. Wait, is that my voice?” Nancy said, noticing that her voice sounded way too deep, yet still had a hint of feminine voice. She coughed a little and talked again, “Testing, testing, 123.”
“Ugh. My voice sounds all wrong and my throat feels dry. I need some water.” Looking around, she saw a puddle nearby along with a few slices of strawberry cake dogs nearby. They noticed her presence and they trot towards her.
“Bark bark!” The cake dogs barked happily at the sight of their brethren.
“Awww. All of you doggies are cute, at least this dream send someone as cute as you when I needed some comfort. I’m just gonna take a quick drink at that puddle, then I’ll play with all of you.”
Nancy crawled towards the puddle, closed her eyes and drank it, it tastes like soda. The cake dogs were barking, but they sounded like they were afraid of something or trying to warn her. Once she felt her throat cleared a little, she opened her eyes and saw that her reflection looks like a big chocolate dog.
“Weird. Whose this doggy and why is he copying me?” She reached out to towards the reflection, only to noticed that her arm had became a chocolate cupcake. Twisting and turning her stumpy arm, it followed her every move before she looked back at the reflection. She made some silly faces and touch around her head, the reflection copying her every move and feeling her new hair and horns. Her face became shocked when she realized the chocolate dog was her.
“Aaaaaaah! What happened to me!?” She said, the voice still sounding rough yet feminine. The cake dogs went up to her and were concerned.
“Okay, I’d like this dream to be over now. Gotta wake myself up.” She slapped her head with her hands, rubbing her cheeks due to not knowing how strong she became. Looking down on her arm, she took a bite on it, yelping from pain while the cake dogs helped in shock.
“This isn’t a dream? Is this real!? What has happened to me!!!” Nancy sat down and started crying, her tears trailing down chocolate. The cake dogs went up to her and tried to comfort her as best as they could. While she was crying, a figure noticed her and headed towards her direction.
“There you are, Schwarzwälder!” The figure said, Nancy opened her teary eyes to see who it was. Someone wearing a worn out grim reaper cloak and carrying a scythe on one hand marched towards her. To her surprised the person wearing it is a gingerbread man. However the gingerbread man had an angry look on his face.
“We have been searching around all over the place and here you are crying like a baby!?” He said.
“Eh? Who are you?”
“Have you gotten amnesia or something, Schwarzwälder? I’m your master, Licorice Cookie. I don’t have time to listen to your whining, we’re heading back now.” Licorice Cookie said before grabbing onto one of Nancy’s arm.
“No! Get away from me!” She yelled, tugging Licorice Cookie’s arm back.
“What is wrong with you Schwarzwälder? And get rid of those dirty rags.” Licorice Cookie reached to tug at the torn dress.
“I’m not this Swarzder person! Leave me alone, meanie gingerbread!” She waved her arms around, throwing Licorice Cookie away a few distance before she got up and ran down the opposite way. The dust cloud dissipated as Licorice Cookie shook his head.
“Seriously, has he lost his mind or something? He’s acting like a child.” From behind him, his companion and pet Bat-Cat flew towards him.
“Meowster, I’ve found Schwarzwälder, he-“
“I know Bat-Cat. I saw him running and acting like a little girl just now. I’ll have to teach him a lesson when we get back.”
“Huh? But, Meowster-“
“There’s no time! I have to catch up before the cookies show themselves.” Licorice Cookie starts his chase to Nancy.
“Wait, Meowster! What do you mean by that?” Bat-Cat yelled before chasing after his master.
Meanwhile…
“Ugh, this better be worth the long trip.” Said Chili Pepper Cookie, tossing her knife around from boredom.
“The recent rifts in the sky has been concerning all over cookiedom. Could be the work of Dark Enchantress Cookie.” Wizard Cookie said.
“All the more reason we have to stop her soon, we can’t let her ruin our kingdom.” GingerBrave said confidently.
“As your king, I can’t allow this to rift to terrorize my kingdom. Onwards, my loyal soldiers.” Custard Cookie III ordered.
On the way to find the source of the mysterious rifts in the sky, they saw a big figure coming towards them fast.
“Uh, guys? Is that..?” Strawberry Cookie said.
“It’s that Werehound Brute from before and he’s charging in our direction.” Wizard Cookie prepped his wand.
“Get ready everyone.” GingerBrave hold out his candy cane and they all got onto their battle stance.
The Werehound was getting closer and closer to them, that’s when Strawberry Cookie noticed something odd. “Is it just me or is he wearing some sort of dress?”
True enough, they all saw that he’s wearing a torn dress and looked like he was running away from something rather than running to them.
“KYAAAAAH! Somebody save me!” Nancy screamed as she ran past the group of cookies, nearly dodging getting trampled.
“Ha! He missed.” Chili Pepper Cookie said.
“It’s like he’s not even aiming for us. Don’t tell me he’s going after the village behind us?” Wizard Cookie said.
“Oh no! The cookies over there are in trouble.” Said Strawberry Cookie.
“We have to stop him before he destroys the village!” GingerBrave said. Before they could give chase however, Licorice Cookie came up, breathing heavily from the running. Once he caught his breath, he noticed the group of cookies in front of him.
“You cookies again!?”
“You! What are you two planning this time?”
“Agh! As much as I like to see you fail, I don’t have time to deal with you this time. Cakes! Distract them!”
Licorice Cookie pointed his staff as a group of cake hounds attacked the group. He used this opportunity to get past them and follow the Werehound Brute.
“Hey! Get back here!” Yelled Chili Pepper Cookie.
“At this rate, we won’t be able to catch up to them in time!” Said Strawberry Cookie.
“There has to be some sort of shortcut we can use.” Custard Cookie III said as the Werehound cakes keep their attacks.
Nancy didn’t stop until she saw a village full of gingerbread people in her view. ‘Ah! A town! Maybe someone knows where my parents are?’ She tried to stop herself, but she skidded onto the gourd and accidentally crash onto a nearby building. Despite crashing into the building, she didn’t feel a lot of pain and she stumbled out, destroying a cart with the cookie in charge running away.
“Ahhhhh! It’s a cake monster!” “Monster!” “Everyone, get away from it!”
“Wait! I’m not a monster.” She tried to explain to the gingerbread people, but she kept knocking over things due to her strength, size, and tail. Worried and not wanting to cause any more trouble, she ran back to the road not noticing two cookies were following her. She continue down the road until the group of cookies blocked her path.
“Hold it right there!” GingerBrave said.
“Please wait! I didn’t mean to!” From behind them, Licorice Cookie followed behind, he was shocked when saw the cookies were already there.
“How did you get ahead of me!? Those cakes should’ve distracted you long enough for you to not catch up!”
“Shortcut.” They all said in unison. Flying behind, Bat-Cat catch up to her master.
“Meowster! That’s not Schwarzwälder!”
“Huh? What are you talking about?” asked Licorice Cookie.
Before Bat-Cat could respond, a booming laugh yelled out as a big figure crashed down in between the cookies. The dust dissipate to reveal a Choco Werehound Brute similar to what Nancy looked like. He lifted his hammer with one of his cupcake arm and smiled.
“Sorry master, I was cooling myself down, but now I’m ready! You cookies have been going around long enough! This time all of you will…will…” He stumbled as soon as he saw another Choco Werehound Brute behind the group of cookies, his heart skipping a few beats. He had never seen another werehound of his kind, and he felt strange when he saw her eyes.
“What! There’s two of them!?” Wizard Cookie asked.
“About time you showed up, Schwarzwälder. Crush those cookies until they’re nothing but crumbs!” Licorice Cookie ordered. However the Choco Werehound Brute just stand there. “Schwarzwälder, I said crush those cookies!”
The werehound had a menacing aura around him as he snapped out of a trance and he charged forward. The group braced themselves as he knocked the male cookies while the female cookies dodge out of the way. However he continued to charge towards the female werehound, Nancy closed her eyes in terror before the Werehound Brute skidded himself to a halt in front of her. She opened her eyes and saw his expression changed to a smile as he went onto one knee and picked up the candy flowers nearby before presenting them to her.
“I must be seeing shooting starts, cause you are the most beautiful star I’ve ever seen. If you want, we can head back together at my home. It’s not the most prettiest, but you’ll fit perfectly along with the other cakes. Will you go out with me?” He proposed.
“Oh!” Even though she just transformed into a cake creature, her face blushing due to being called beautiful. On one hand he is quite scary and talking about crumbling the gingerbread people, on the other hand she didn’t expect to see this side of the cakehound that she was lost for words. Suddenly, a strong gust of wind blew from behind Nancy, which she instinctively hold whatever remain of her dress down. The wind also affected the cookies, the Choco Werehound Brute trying to hold on but was soon being blew back from the wind.
“Quickly, in here!” Nancy heard a young girl’s voice from nearby. She saw a gingerbread girl with puffy hair beckoning to an empty clearing of the forest. Without hesitating, she quickly followed the girl as the path closed behind as soon as she entered. They both head further down the path until they reached another gingerbread person, a bit more brown with a pointy hat and a spoon on one hand.
“Ah, I see you found the one who fell from that portal.” Said the gingerbread in the pointy hat.
“Yes, professor. I don’t think any other cookie has seen where she went.” Said the gingerbread girl.
“Good, good. We don’t want the Academy to know what’s been going on.” The gingerbread in the pointy hat walked closer to Nancy. “Why don’t we introduce ourselves to each other. I’m Latte Cookie and this is my student, Cream Puff Cookie.”
“It’s nice to meet you, despite the circumstances. What’s your name?”
“Nancy. Do you know what happened to me, Miss Latte?” asked Nancy.
“No need for formalities, Latte Cookie is fine by me. As for how you end up like this, were still not sure. We were practicing a summoning spell that could help us for a short time, however something has interfered with it and has changed it to a larger scale. Instead of summoning for a short time, it dragged another creature from a different world and send them into ours. We tried to see if we can find it before anyone else could see it and cause a panic around the village, but it should never have the ability to change one’s shape to fit our world. Tell us how you ended up looking as you are right now.”
“Well, I woke up on the road earlier and thought it was all a dream at first. I was still human and I was scared and alone because I couldn’t see Mom or Dad anywhere. So, I went down the trail and saw a trail of jellybeans, which were very delicious by the way. I followed the trail until I saw a cookie shaped like, well, this form I am right now. After I ate it, I started to feel pain in my stomach and it only got worst. It eventually stopped and I met some adorable cake puppies nearby when I needed to a drink of water, but I got soda instead and saw I had transformed into this. That meanie gingerbread in a worn out rags showed up and was being mean to me, he wouldn’t let me go and I ran away from him. After a while, I saw the village and tried to get help, I didn’t mean to cause any trouble there, but I keep destroying things and I ran back. That’s when I encountered five gingerbread people and the meanie one until another chocolate doggy that looked like me came up and I wasn’t sure what I’m supposed to say. Then a strong gust of wind flew by and I saw Cream Puff Cookie leading me up to here.”
After listening to the story, Latte Cookie looked at Cream Puff Cookie who had a look of shock.
“Ate a cookie shaped like that? Professor, is it possible she could be-?”
“We can’t go to assumptions yet. First of all Nancy, what do you mean by a cookie shaped like your form? Is it a cake hound or a cookie shaped like one?” Asked Latte Cookie.
“It looked like you two, but shaped like this.” Latte Cookie thought to herself.
“That hasn’t happened before around here. Could that spell have affected more on a grander scale than we anticipated?” She asked herself. “Second of all Nancy, we are called Cookies, not gingerbread. Lastly, do you know the story of how we were created?”
“Ummm. People baked you from bread dough and we eat you, though I didn’t realized you were alive.” Replied Nancy.
“Eat us!?” Cream Puff Cookie yelled.
“Close, we were created by witches, who are like gods to us, who baked us. However, they weren’t here to take care of us, they were here to eat our kind. We all ran away from the witches so that we wouldn’t end up getting eaten. That’s a taboo in our world.” Latte Cookie answered.
“Oh no! I didn’t mean to eat your kind. They tasted so good too.” Nancy geared up, Latte Cookie comforted her.
“You shouldn’t feel too bad, Nancy. Your world works differently than ours, so it’s understandable that we were just food for you in your world. Still, you should keep your identity and that you eat cookies like us a secret to everyone here. We don’t want the cookies to know about this.”
“Trying to cover this up, Magician?” A male voice said. Out from the shade is a Gingerbread cookie with a detective vest and hair with a coffee mug on his hand. “I heard what you said about her potential threat. I’ll have to arrest this cake monster and lock her up in jail.”
“Nooooo! I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to!” Nancy said nearly in tears.
“Detective, this one is a young child forced into this.
“W-W-Wait detective! I know there’s not much evidence to our claim, but please hear us out.” Cream Puff Cookie exclaimed. Latte Cookie told him everything up til now, which the detective just drank in his mug and was thinking it.
“While there’s not much to your story, we also don’t have much to ours aside from the property damage. With these recent rifts constantly more active than before, I suppose I’ll let this one slide. Don’t think that means you’re scot-free, young lady! If we at M.E.H. have found anything that points you being guilty, I’ll be back for you. I’ll take care of calming the cookies down from your “accident” earlier.” The detective cookie turned and left.
“Don’t mind him, Nancy. Detective Almond Cookie is good at heart, he’s just very busy dealing with the magic related cases that’s been happening lately. He’s also known as the “Lazy Detective” by the time he found any evidence we might have figure out the source of all this.”
“So you can help me get back to my world and fix me?” Nancy said, her tail wagging around. Latte Cookie had a sad expression and sighed.
“I’m afraid we can’t help with both of those. First one is that we still have no idea who amplify the summoning spell that caused this in the first place. Even when we do find a way to get the portal working, I can’t guarantee it’ll send you back to your word. Second, since these cases of transformation are rare, there’s no spell that could change you back and it won’t be your human self.” She explained. Nancy’s tail stopped wagging and drooped, there’s really no way to change back?
“Don’t worry, Nancy. We’ll do our best to change you back and get you home safe and sound! It’ll take some time with everything that’s happened, so you’ll have to find a safe place for you to live until we made some progress.” Cream Puff Cookie said.
“But where do I go next? I don’t know anyone in this world.”
“You can return with those group of cookies earlier. They’ve been going around removing the troubles around here, they’ll keep you safe. We’ll just have to modify your story a bit so that they don’t freak out.” suggested Latte Cookie.
“You mean, we have to lie to them?” Latte Cookie nodded. “My parents told me not to lie or else bad things would happen if I do lie.”
“You parents have taught very well, young lady. However, we don’t any other options and they’re the best choice. Who knows what they might do if they know there was an outside force that lives with the witches and eat our kind. So for now, just stick with it, we don’t want our situation to get worse, now do we?”
The three of them went down the hidden road and the group of cookies she saw earlier ran up, a bit winded from the fight. They were prepare to fight Nancy, but Latte Cookie intercepted and explained the situation to them (altering where Nancy came from and what she does to the cookies.) They were hesitant of course, but since Nancy didn’t mean to do anything bad, they accepted to escort her back to their town. They waved Latte Cookie and Cream Puff Cookie as they traveled back to their kingdom.
“How Fascinating. A summoning portal that can summon cakes from a different world. It must’ve taken a lot of magic to cast one.” Wizard Cookie said. Chili Pepper Cookie was in the back with Strawberry Cookie and Nancy, she was looking at the torn dress curiously.
“So, are you also claimed to be from a royal cookie this kid?” She said, hinting towards Custard Cookie III.
“Is he from a royal family too? I might have something on me before the light blinded me.” Nancy checked around the pockets in her dress that she requested beforehand. It took a bit before she took out a ruby gem, Chili Pepper’s eyes seemed to glistened in front of it.
“Oooh! Is that a real gem? Let me take a closer look!” Nancy gave her the ruby which Chili Pepper Cookie inspected it. After a little bit, she laughed from excitement.
“Finally! A royalty with a real gem! Hey, so does your family have any treasures in your home?”
“Oh yes, my parents are very rich and they given me lots of things. You can keep the ruby.”
“Really!? No tricks or anything else you’d want us to do?”
“My parents told me to reward those who have helped others in need. If my parents did end up here in this world, I could ask them to give all of you a reward.”
“You’re a good kid, I like you already. Don’t worry, if we do find your parents here, I can talk about the rewards privately.”
“Y-you don’t have to be so generous, Nancy. We’re just happy to help you find your parents.” Strawberry Cookie said.
“Don’t worry Nancy.” GingerBrave said with confidence. “We’ll protect you and you’ll be safe in our kingdom. There a lots of cookies that will welcome you.”
“It’s not gonna be easy though, some of us cookies don’t like these cakes too well. No offense. I’m sure overtime the cookies will learn to accept you.” said Wizard Cookie.
“Fear not! As their King, I won’t allow any cookies to harm my retainers. I’m also part of a royal family too, you know?” Custard Cookie III said.
“Really?” Asked Nancy.
“Why of course! Since you’re also from a royal family, it is the king’s duty to treat royalties with their respect. Although we already have a princess cookie, if you want, you can be my queen.”
“Wouldn’t that mean both of you would have to love each other and kiss?” Asked Wizard Cookie. “You can’t be a queen if the king doesn’t love you back.” That got both Nancy and Custard Cookie III to spit out in disgust.
“Eeeeeew! I don’t wanna kiss!” Nancy shrieked.
“I’m with you there, princess Nancy. I’ll just stick to being a lone king right now. I guess I can allow another princess into my kingdom.”
The group chatted their way back to their kingdom, Nancy felt happy to find some good friends in these strange circumstances. Sure, she would love to go back to her own world and parents, but she felt safe knowing she’ll be welcomed to their place.
Meanwhile, on the tower full of sweets…
One Cookie was there baking and making more of those cakes when he heard some commotion nearby. He checked and saw that Licorice Cookie and his two servants were there, the Choco Werehound Brute seemed to be muttering to himself. However before he could ask, Licorice cookie angerly walked up to him and shook his shoulders.
“Were you slacking off or something!? Why didn’t you let me know we have another Choco Werehound Brute with us and why is it acting like a little girl?” Licorice Cookie asked, the Cookie was confused.
“Hold on, what do you mean another Choco Werehound Brute? I only made the one with you right now, and what do you mean by it acting like a little girl?” He asked.
“Don’t play dumb! There was another Choco Werehound Brute earlier that was acting like it didn’t know about me. Not only that, Schwarzwälder has been acting all weird after we encounter it. He’s been muttering himself the whole way, talking about some sort of love poem, and he wouldn’t listen to what I say most of the time.”
As he said that, Schwarzwälder seems to be lost in thought and muttering to himself.
“See!? That’s what I was talking about! You better find that Choco Werehound Brute and fix it properly. I’m off to let all of this sink in, you’d better not let Dark Enchantress Cookie know about your failure.” He said before storming off.
‘A cake acting like a little girl? What is going on here?’
He wondered, a little cake hound came up to him and barked.
“Hmm? What’s wrong my little cake?”
“Bark, bark!”
“A Werehound Brute with the cookies?” ‘So what Licorice Cookie said is true.’ “Do you know where they’re taking that cake?”
“Bark, bark, bark.”
“Thank you, take a rest now. I’ll see this one with my own eyes.” The cookie said before marching off.A young girl landed in what appears to be a candy wonderland, only to find out later it’s all becoming real and there’s some force messing with the balance of both worlds. This is just the start of her adventure.
