It's about time I drew this guy again! It's been years. Funnel Vortex is my main fursona who originally started out as a Sonic OC, he's one of my oldest characters and I decided to give him some love again.

First, I feel like I should clear some things up to my long time watchers or new watchers who are potentially confused. I have two characters with similar names: Funnel Vortex and Neil Vortex, and Neil Vortex is often called "Funnel" as a nickname. Funnel and Neil are effectively two separate characters who diverged from the original Funnel concept at some point, their "split" happened around a time I couldn't decide what I wanted Funnel to be and Neil and Funnel are very different characters despite being similarly named and having a similar color scheme. If I am using Neil to refer to a character then that "Funnel" is not this guy, I will make a separate ref sheet for Neil sometime later.

The divergence of Funnel's character evolution is also the reason Chloe Vortex is not listed in Funnel's relative list for those who her, Chloe Vortex ended up in Neil's timeline and is Neil's mother while Funnel's mother is unspecified, but that is more info to be touched upon at a later date.

Also, I have two sonas, Funnel being one with the other one being Skarb The Fox. The reason I have two Sonas it is because I went through a bit of a sona personality crisis for a while due to shit that happened over the years that I don't want to talk about. But anyways, I made Skarb at some point but I really wanted to bring back Funnel as my main sona recently so I decided to keep both characters as my effective sonas and make Funnel my main fursona while Skarb is an alt-sona.

Sexuality: Funnel is a weird one sexually, he has been with women but he's also been with males, however his current "girlfriend" is a shapeshifting artificial goo creature who identifies as female but doesn't have an actual "sex". So I have no idea what that makes him. Though it should be known Funnel is a bit of a harder "lay" since he typically is slow to come on to and needs to know someone before he considers getting intimate with them.

Background: Funnel is a drifter, he does not have a permanent place of residence and he is always on the move. His social circle is also small, as he is less outgoing and notably introverted thus slower to form relationships. He mostly lives out of the back of his modified SUV and often sleeps outdoors if he can't find a place to stay, when sleeping outside he'll often sleep high up in trees which he can use his large porcupine claws to climb. Not much is known about where he came from or what his long term goals are, it is likely Funnel just goes wherever the roads carry him.

Funnel doesn't have a long-term career but rather picks up odd one-time freelance "jobs" along his way which often includes mercenary activities and other "odd" tasks most people would find weird or not be willing to do. He most often works alone but will pair up with someone else if he needs to. He's had many adventures from this and it is how he eventually met Cyan. As for hobbies, his hobbies are various, but they most often include outdoor activities such hikes and stormchasing.

Personality: Funnel is a young man in his prime who thoroughly enjoys life. He does not feel like he belongs anywhere nor does he desire it that much, he's too much of a free spirit. He is also known for being a bit of a rough rebel, which is true to an extent, however he is also friendly even if he is somewhat slow to come on to at first. Should be known he has a low annoyance threshold and typically has a low bullshit tolerance, he will tune out or lash back if he's poked at. He's also rather defensive when asked personal questions, mostly opening up on his own to his closest friends. Despite the more rugged parts of his personality he's mostly ive if he's not being agitated and is even quite nice.

Abilities: Funnel is quite strong and can soak up damage and deal some blows with his fists. His quills are barbed on end and are difficult to pull out and are capable of causing serious damage, and he does have the ability to willfully make his quills stand up on end when he needs to use them and also to make them lay flat so they are relatively harmless in ive/casual situations.

Unlike the myths regarding porcupines, he can not shoot his quills, rather his quill-covered tail can be whipped around to deliver a serious load of quills into an opponent as an attacking move. Defensively, he can cower and raise his back full of quills to an enemy. Funnel's claws make him a good climber, and he's good at keeping his balance. Funnel also has large rodent incisors coated with iron enamel which can chew through a wide range of materials from wood to soft metals.

On top of this Funnel is aerokinetic, and has the ability to control a field of wind around him. His aerokinesis can be used as a ranged attack but more often serves the purpose of a distraction or as a cloaking maneuver (think a bunch of dust being whipped up as a smokescreen).

Weaknesses: Funnel's main weakness is speed. His stubby legs mean he is a slow mover, he can't run fast and his walk is more of a waddle. Despite being able to deliver powerful punches he is slower to deliver them. Funnel is also nearsighted and requires glasses in order to see distant objects clearly (glasses not pictured in ref, forgot to put them in, but he does have a pair that he wears sometimes in casual outdoor situations). On top of this Funnel does occasionally quill himself.

In combat: Funnel is less of a front-line fighter as his physique is better geared towards defense. When defending Funnel prefers to find a good ground to hold and deal damage to opponents while holding it. Funnel is competent in firearms and other weapons which he does often make use of and does have a concealed snubnose revolver in his jacket. When on the offense Funnel much prefers stealth to reach his target, using his climbing abilities to sneak around and using his teeth to sabotage enemy infrastructure, along with finding ways to set traps or distractions.

Funnel most often silently kills living targets from behind and typically pulls out one of his own quills to use as a dagger to shove into the side of a target's neck. He is also is very competent in sabotaging non-living targets. When he needs to take a living target alive he most often sets a trap of some kind. Every job is different so his methods often do change and adapt.

Diet: Being a porcupine Funnel is mainly a herbivore, his diet mostly consists of fruits and other plant material. However, like all herbivores, he is an opportunistic omnivore and does include meat in his diet on occasion and is capable of digesting and getting nutrients from it, just not as efficiently as carnivores. And being a rodent he especially loves to eat bones when it comes to parts of an animal. His favorite foods include green apples, grapes, and carrots, meanwhile corn is his absolute favorite. When it comes to meat he likes chicken the best, and he will eat leftover bones. He also really likes salt and can be seen putting a lot of salt on his food.

In vore scenarios:
As prey: I would not recommend most preds to attempt to eat Funnel unless a face and mouth full of quills and severe internal bleeding sounds like a good day to you. Most preds who attempt to eat him go home with a painful acupuncture and an empty stomach. However, goo preds have an advantage over him since they are not affected by his quills and they can easily outmaneuver him in speed. Funnel's girlfriend (Cyan), who is a goo creature, does eat him often, however she doesn't digest him and she mostly relaxes him and heals him in her stomach.

As pred: Funnel is naturally an herbivore since he is a porcupine but that doesn't stop him from being pred from time to time. Funnel's stomach is less efficient at digesting meaty substances than more carnivorous preds but that simply means he takes longer to fully digest his prey. He doesn't play the pred role as often as my alt-sona Scarb The Fox does, but he is still capable of being a pred and digesting prey.
